Load Balancing
One of the reasons that is causes excessive movement, noise and vibration is the machine was loaded incorrectly. Typically, it has too many items in it or there is an oversized comforter that got pushed to one side.
“When the load of laundry in the washing machine is unbalanced, it can cause the washer’s basket to move unevenly as it spins and bang against the outer tub. If the machine is properly loaded, the clothes will usually distribute themselves naturally so that they are relatively balanced around the basket during the spin cycle. If the machine is overloaded, however, the clothes may not be able to move freely and may be more likely to throw the basket off balance,” explains Home Guides.
You just need to check and adjust the level again.
Installation Issues
The Spruce reports that “new front-loading washers use significantly higher spin speeds than a standard washer to remove excess moisture. This can cause a washer to become off-balance easily and they should be checked every few months. Front load washers with improperly installed storage bases and improperly stacked washer dryer pairs should also be checked often”.
Leveling
Most machines have “self-adjusting” rear legs. These legs are set by tilting the entire machine forward onto its front legs with the rear legs three-to-four inches off the floor and then setting the machine back down. The legs should adjust automatically. You can also use wood shims or heavy cardboard to create a level machine to stop the movement and shaking.
Pedestals
“Washing machines that are mounted on a pedestal may vibrate excessively as the wash basket spins, especially if the washer is out of balance. The vibration occurs as the weight of the machine shifts back and forth during the spin cycles, and the sides of the pedestal flex under the changing load. You can solve the problem by either replacing the pedestal with a stiffer design or installing a stiffening kit that will help the pedestal to remain stable,” reports Home Guides.
